Happy Easter

Mackenzie had his first real Easter this weekend when he awoke to find someone had left him some surprises around the house. Kelli and I hid some stuff in obvious areas so he would do his "Hey! - What's that?" and point thing he does. Kelli was still sleeping upstairs with the girls when Mac decided to make his entrance. I went down stairs to help him over his safety gate and have some quality Dad and son cuddle time.

The night before, Mom picked up some Easter Bunny head holders in the shape of eggs (about the best I can do to describe them) that had transparent fronts in order to put candies and mini toys in them. Because we can still get away with it, we were trying to limit the amount of candy he got first thing in the morning. As a trade off he got more little toys and trinkets instead.

The hunt was on. I got the video camera ready and helped him out a little. He noticed a couple around the room, but was oblivious to a larger "jack in the box" gift that was sitting in plain sight. I was trying to hold off showing him everything, because Mom hadn't emerged from upstairs yet. When she did arrive (carrying both twins in her arms), he was already playing with his Jack in the box toy and having a great old time. Mom helped him out with some more and expanded the search to Kitchen area. I must say, it was awesome - I won't be able to have a tonne of moments like this one.

The Easter Bunny had made a trail of eggs from the kitchen to the Jackpot which was hidden in the empty dryer. Inside was his full Easter basket and a number of toys and fun things - his reaction was priceless.

What did the girls get? Some breast milk in a bottle. Mom ate some chocolate, so I guess they might have gotten some trace elements of it at some point.

Aunt Beth came up from Toronto to visit - she couldn't stay away. We all had an Easter dinner over at Mike and Nan's place.

Sorry, no pictures this Easter, only video. You'll have to catch it on the limited edition DVD coming out this summer
