Grandpa is up for a visit. He arrived yesterday morning at the airport with Kelli and Mac waiting patiently for him. Mac has learned to say Papa for GrandPa and does not hesitate to use it with great gusto to get Grandpas attention. Mac is starting to use all sorts of words this week. He listens intently to what you are saying and tries to imitate your words. He already has a very large vocabulary for understanding words - some of which I didn't know he was exposed to. Luckily none of them are cursing words ;) I try my best to keep a clean demeanour.
Grandpa decided to come up after talking with us on Saturday. Last week I had decided that Kelli was unable to look after Mac during the day and that we would hire our friend Jon who lives in the back apartment to look after both Kelli and Mac until Mackenzie went down for his afternoon nap. This was a great setup, Mac loves hanging out with Jon and is very comfortable around him. Unfortunately, Jon got a job offer for a position and had to take it. Kelli and I were trying to decide what to do when the offer came over the phone. Wow. Fantastic. Dad (Papa) is great with him.
Kelli is getting more and more uncomfortable carrying the Twins as each day goes by. I'm sleeping with her on the pull out couch downstairs (she's not great with stairs, so we stay on the main floor) and I get WOKEN UP by the twins kicking me in the back. It's started already!
Workload around the house is picking up for me. I really don't want Kelli to do anything except rest when I get home. I just have to remember to keep at it to stay ahead of the curve. Clean as you go, keep moving and picking up things along the way. Also, have fun with it. Mac introduced Papa to the spiral marbles toy. Fantastic. He then demonstrated how to take it down quickly by crushing it. Rather then getting upset at him for making bigger mess, I just made a game of pushing the pieces off the table and into the plastic container they came out of - worked like a charm and everyone had fun doing it. It's all a matter of perception.
